Holiday Tour featuring 'A Christmas Story The Musical'
The Fireside Theater, Fort Atkinson & SO MUCH MORE!
December 10 - 12 (Tues - Thurs)
This 3-day holiday trip offers many special stops including Madison, Janesville, and Ft Atkinson.
Tour our State Capital and see the Christmas tree in the rotunda. Experience Madison's Olbrich Gardens Holiday Express with model trains (all inside) plus their lovely Bolz Conservatory.
In Ft. Atkinson, we'll see the Fireside Theater's production of 'A Christmas Story' with a typical fabulous Fireside meal included.
A Christmas Story The Musical: In 1940's Indiana, a bespectacled boy named Ralphie has a big imagination and one wish for Christmas - a Red Ryder BB Gun! A kooky leg lamp, outrageous pink bunny pajamas, a cranky department store santa, and a triple-dog-dare to lick a freezing flagpole are just a few of the obstacles that stand between Ralphie and his Christmas dream. This new musical captures a simpler time in America with delicious wit and heart of gold.
Ralphie wants only one thing for Christmas: An Official Red Ryder Carbine-Action 200-shot Range Model Air Rifle. A Christmas Story The Musical is the hilarious account of Ralphie’s desperate quest to ensure that this most perfect of gifts ends up under his tree this Christmas. It is based on the classic 1983 movie that has become a holiday tradition that millions wait for every year. Featuring a funny and heartfelt score by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul who wrote music for the hit movie La La Land (for which they won an Academy Award); the hit Broadway show Dear Evan Hansen, the new hit movie The Greatest Showman, A Christmas Story The Musical captures holiday wonder with such deliciously wicked wit that it is sure to delight children and grown-ups alike!
The Fireside Theater is well-known for their amazing meals. Here's what we'll be enjoying for this show:
Tomato Bisque: Served with a Grilled Cheese Slider
Freshly Baked Breads from our Artisan Bakery
BEEF AND BIRD: Beef Short Rib slowly braised in beef stock and dressed with a red wine demi-glaze and Chicken Cordon Bleu – a skinless Breast of Chicken, dipped in buttermilk and egg, rolled in bread crumbs and sautéed to a golden brown, topped with an herbed Cream Cheese with Dijon Mustard, Jones Cherrywood Smoked Canadian Bacon, and Jarlsberg Swiss Cheese on a Rosemary Velouté Sauce. Served with Scalloped Potatoes and Spaghetti Squash with Tomato Concasse.
Gingerbread Frozen Custard Pie: Homemade Gingerbread Frozen Custard in a Molasses Crust topped with Whipped Cream and Toffee Chips.
In Janesville, we enjoy some fun stops with a couple of them being special tours: At K and W Greenery we'll get a behind-the-scenes look how they artistically hand-paint poinsettias like peacock feathers and other beautiful creations with time to stroll their greenhouse transformed with evergreens and poinsettias - there will be time for shopping here.
McFarlane Pheasants offers us a tour guide on the bus around their grounds. This is the farm that provided the pheasant for President Obama's inaugural lunch. Inside their store we'll taste-test smoked pheasant with time for shopping for jams, olives, decor, and pheasant of course, before heading home.
*Extra seats on the bus will be left open for those who want to bring poinsettias home!
This trip offers a variety of stops but will be non-rushed, enjoyable and RELAXING! We stay at the same hotel for 2 nights where there is a beautiful pool/jacuzzi and lounge area. We've enjoyed this location in the evening before as a group, visiting and playing cards.
Surprise stops WILL be added in! Remember... Half the Fun is Getting There!
Includes: Motorcoach, Fireside Theater dinner theater, all tours listed, 6 meals, morning muffin on departure day, snacks on bus, gratuities, driver tip and more unexpected stops.
